FAQs
Questions people actually ask.
Straight answers on sizes, pairs, bases, colours, pricing and getting a bed home.
Choosing a bed
Which shape should I choose?
Slimline suits narrow spaces and rows, because the rounded ends and narrower widths keep everything within reach. Modular gives more growing area for its length and suits open vegie patches. Round suits herbs, a single tree or a feature spot. The builder lets you compare area and soil volume side by side.
Can I order any size I like?
The builder only offers sizes on the GROWZA price list. If you need something different, ask GROWZA; do not assume an unlisted size is possible.
Why are half-height beds sold in pairs?
A 415 mm bed is cut from one 830 mm bed, which produces two identical half-height beds. Each unit is therefore a pair, with a cut fee added. If you choose a base, one is charged per bed, so two per pair.
How do I reach the middle of a wide bed?
Most people comfortably reach 500 to 600 mm from an edge. If you can only reach from one side, choose a narrower width.
Bases, water and surfaces
Do I need a base?
Not if the bed sits on soil or lawn with reasonable drainage. An unsealed base adds a floor that still drains. A sealed base holds water and is needed for the wicking conversion.
Will a wicking bed water itself?
A wicking reservoir reduces how often you water, but it still needs filling and checking, especially in hot or windy weather. It is not a guarantee of self-watering.
Can I put a bed on pavers, concrete or a deck?
Possibly, but a filled bed is heavy and water will drain from open and unsealed beds. Check the surface, its load capacity and where water will go. For decks, balconies and rooftops, get professional advice first.
Colours and finish
Are the colours on screen accurate?
No screen is. Swatches are approximate. If the exact colour matters, ask to see it in person before you buy.
What is a legacy colour?
Evening Haze and Jasper appear in older colour sheets. They are marked in the builder; check availability with GROWZA before relying on them.
Will the steel rust near the beach?
Steel finishes are made to handle outdoor conditions, but no steel is immune to corrosion, especially close to salt spray. Ask GROWZA about the best finish for an exposed coastal site.
Prices, pickup and delivery
Are the builder prices final?
No. They are indicative 2025 prices, including a $50 regional surcharge per bed (or per pair). GROWZA must confirm price and availability before purchase.
Is delivery included?
No. Pickup is from Wonthaggi. Delivery is quoted separately by postcode, and coverage is not guaranteed.
Does saving an estimate send it to GROWZA?
No. Saved estimates stay in this browser. Download or print one to bring with you or refer to when you talk to GROWZA. Nothing on this site submits an enquiry or an order.
Are the beds Australian-made?
Yes, GROWZA beds are Australian-made.
Still deciding?
Try a few sizes in the builder. It costs nothing and nothing is sent anywhere.
